Zach Braff's wrote and directed Wish I Was Here, and it has generally been loved by Independent film audiences that have seen it. However, I thought it felt forced and too cute in parts--there's the precocious kid, the daughter with strong beliefs, the long-suffering wife (Kate Hudson), the kind but seriously ill father (Homeland's Mandy Patinkin) and the it's all about me husband (Braff). You see, he wants to be an actor so much, but his wife supports the household while he "follows his dream". Of course, his family is somewhat dysfunctional but that just adds to the movie's charm, I guess. IT didn't do it for me. Maybe DVD?
